Why do you think many older adults do not seek out mental health services, and/or other social services when they are in need?

After reading both Chapter 14 and The New York Times article, You’re Not Too Old to Talk to Someone, please watch Monica Menesini: Why do our bodies age? | TED Talk. Next, consider your thoughts on how the biology of aging may impact how elders seek out help (physical/psychological). In your opinion, why do you think many older adults do not seek out mental health services, and/or other social services when they are in need? What barriers might impede them receiving help, especially among diverse elders? Lastly, in what ways do you think social workers can help bridge this gap between elders in need, the physical limitations that aging can have on elders, and many elders’ reluctance to seek out help?
