What experiences the organizations are seeking.

General Information
This assignment will encourage you to explore one kinesiology related profession in depth. This can include any career area in kinesiology, physical education, rehabilitation, sport, recreation, wellness, coaching and/or fitness that is of interest to you. You will interview a professional in your area of choice, learn a bit more about the jobs available, and then submit an assignment documenting what you have learned. For this assignment, you must:
1. Make contact with the professional, and explain what you must accomplish with this assignment and what you are asking of them. Arrange a time to interview the professional.
· Post in Blackboard in the appropriate area once you have confirmed the professional you will interview by Monday, June 7.
· Please ensure you are respecting COVID protocols. Virtual interviews are acceptable.
2. Interview the professional. Consider asking about:
· Their personal description of their job. Have their views changed over time?
· A typical work day. What do they spend their time doing?
· Who they typically work with and if there is variance in the populations. Do they work with specialty groups? How does their work change based on who they work with?
· The work environment. How would they describe the place they work?
· Formal education required, and ongoing professional development requirements.
· Other skills needed (e.g. interpersonal communication, marketing, administration, technology). What is required of them?
· Typical salary ranges. What might a starting salary be, and how would it change over time? What factors impact salaries in the field?
· How is the organization funded (e.g. Medical Services Plan in BC, provincial government funded, client pays). Explain the ramifications of this. How does this affect the job?
3. Research current job posts. Find two or three current job postings for positions similar to that of the professional you have chosen. In your own words, describe:
· How the organizations have described the workplace, the position, and the individual they wish to hire.
· The educational or accreditations the organizations are seeking.
· What experiences the organizations are seeking.
· What skills the organizations are seeking.
4. Compare the job postings to what you have learned from the professional. How are they similar or different?
5. Reflect on what you have learned, and share how your learnings will impact your own career path, regardless of if you want to pursue this career or not.
Your assignment must:
· Be 4-5 pages long (excluding title page), double spaced, written in 12 point Times New Roman font, using standard page margins. You may exceed this length if you are including images.
· Be submitted in Microsoft Word.
· Include all relevant information (eg. Student name and number, course and section number, date, assignment title).
· Follow APA Formatting.
· Be the student’s original work. Any issues concerning Academic Integrity will result in a mark of 0 for the assignment and will be reported.
