Art Journalism

GOAL:
Completion of this assignment will demonstrate communication skills, critical thinking/
analyzing skills, teamwork and collaboration.
INSTRUCTIONS:
• Due
Arrange one typed paragraph and submit your own Word Document by the
assignment deadline; you DO NOT have to wait for your teammates in order to
submit, each of you will submit your own part.
• Paragraph format
Sentence 1: In one sentence, begin by identifying the artwork you chose for your
part of the project by “Title”, art form, and also mention your team’s theme.
*The Team brainstorm and draft need approval prior to submitting this final part
of the assignment; deductions will apply for failure to work in a Team.
Sentence 2 through 5: Objectively describe the art work (describe what it looks
like) based on the picture you will also attach. Describe the visual appearance
by using elements of art and ‘Principles of Design’ (use the terms on the P.O.D.
resource page). Underline or bold type the P.O.D. terms in each sentence;
P.O.D. terms will be repeated.
e.g. The variety of colors in the artwork include red, white, and blue.
*Notice the P.O.D. term in bold (e.g. variety), as well as the art element listed
(e.g. colors) and then a specific example (red, white, and blue).
*This is your end of the semester critique, so arrange your sentences
accordingly! You decide what to mention, however what you mention I should
also see from the picture attached.
Sentence 6 and 7: End your short paragraph by typing at least 2 subjective
statements (your judgments, opinions, overall impressions) of how the art you
selected fit the Team theme. Also mention what was most surprising, maybe
fascinating to learn, impressive part of the theme and overall team selections.
• Works Cited page—include only as needed for any direct and/or paraphrased
content. For example, if you look up the art’s medium (to confirm the materials
used) or, maybe the scale (actual size), then credit your source using sentence
