This essay has to be about the career of a Park Naturalist vs the career of USFWS warden.
Write an essay that delves into a potential career choice. You have two options on how to focus your essay:
Explore ONE career in-depth, conveying vital information such as salary, education requirements, job demand, the pro’s and con’s of that career, etc.
Compare and contrast TWO potential career choices
It may help to think that you are gathering this information not just for you but for a high school audience who is thinking of pursuing this career. What information would they need to help them make this choice?
The tone of your paper is FORMAL, which means you should avoid referring to “I” and “you.” Instead, you may say “a person” or more specifically utilize the career term, such as “professors.”
You will be conducting research using a variety of source types and will be submitting a Working Bibliography with at least ten potential sources.
You must have at least FIVE sources citing in your final essay. After conducting your research, which types of sources you include in your essay is up to you.
Your in-text citations and attached Works Cited list must follow MLA documentation exactly (refer to the MLA Handbook in our text on page 561 and/or to Purdue’s online MLA Guide.)
When introducing a source or quote, you should use the “quote sandwich” format discussed in class.
Essay must include BOTH in-text citations and a Works Cited page, or it will not earn a passing grade.
Note that any sources mentioned in the essay must be on the Works Cited list, and every source on the Works Cited list must be cited in the essay. They correlate directly.
The final essay must be 7-10 pages long PLUS the Works Cited page in back (so 8-11 pages total.)
