STRUCTURE:
Introduction: (approximately 180 words)
· Introduce the case study and explain the nature of the issue or situation;
· Outline key points that you will discuss in the rest of your essay.
Body of the essay: (approximately 1200 words)
Section 1: Discuss the organisational (policies and procedures) and state/national (common law, awards etc.) that shape employment relations (ER) in that organisation. What are the policies and ER position of the organisation within the industry? Critique whether they are good policies or bad policies or a mix of both. Outline whether the organisation has an award, an enterprise bargaining agreement and pay rates etc.
Section 2: Outline how the issue or situation should be resolved and develop critical discussion. How would you as an employee involve colleagues and the union in this situation (*as a starting point here, see the week 4 reading addressing compliance and enforcement of employment standards)? (l have attached this) What actions/activities would you undertake and why? Link back to relevant Employment relations theory. You must use in-text references for any concept, theory, and information you use.
Conclusion: (approximately 120 words). Summarise the main elements of the essay. Remember that all the critique should be happening in the body of your essay.
This assessment will require a minimum of 10 references – including 8 refereed journal articles beyond 2010.
