Your paper has to be 6 and half to 7 pages in length.
In order to write this reflection paper, you need to have completed all six modules of Developing Lives in Launchpad.
What was your initial response to being a virtual parent? How did you choose your baby’s name? Do you know how your name was chosen? Transitioning to parenthood can be a very exciting and challenging time for families. What are some of the challenges you think new parents have to deal with?
After completing the Prenatal module, visit the Memory Book and answer the following questions. First, look over your infant’s birth certificate. What was the height and weight of your baby at birth? How does this compare to national averages? What was your infant’s APGAR score at 1 and 5 minutes? What is the significance of these numbers?
After completing the Babies and Toddlers module, review the chart that shows the growth of your new baby in the first week. How much has your baby changed during the first week? How does your baby compare (e.g. what percentile is he/she?) to other babies at this stage of development?
After completing the Early Childhood module, review the two child report cards. Is your little one ready for kindergarten? Based on this information, what are some of the strengths your child has begun to demonstrate? Review the parenting report card. What type of parenting style does this report indicate you utilize? Do you agree with this assessment of your parenting style?
After completing the Middle Childhood module, review the parenting report card. How did you score on parental monitoring? …parenting expectations? …level of stress? How do these areas impact your ability to be the kind of parent you want to be?
After completing the Adolescence module, visit the Memory Book and review the photo of your child at age 12 and then again at age 18. What are some of the major physical changes that occurred during this stage of development? Then review the wellness report card. What is your child’s height and weight at age 12 compared to that at age 18? If your child was struggling with maintaining a healthy weight at age 12, how would you address this concern with your child?
After you have finished the entire DL program, reflect on your overall experience. What was the outcome for your child? Did he/she go off to college or take a different path? How do you feel about that path? Do you think your parenting decisions influenced your child’s journey? What parenting decisions did you struggle over during this experience? What, if any, impact will this experience have on how you parent (or how you will view parenting) in the future?
