Guidelines
Use your text and at least one professional/peer-reviewed journal article.
Papers should be written using APA format and style standards. Purdue OWL APA Guidelines
Do not use direct quotations in this paper. Paraphrase your sources to demonstrate your understanding of the material and cite these sources properly. Papers with direct quotations may be dropped a letter grade. Listing a source on the reference page is not sufficient to address proper citation of sources. In-text citations are required. Note: To paraphrase, you must put your source’s material in your own words. Do not use material word-for-word from your sources without using quotation marks and citing them, otherwise this will be considered a form of plagiarism.
Papers should be double-spaced with 12-point font. Do not have any more than a double space at any point in the paper, such as between paragraphs or on either side of a heading.
Organization of the paper, as well as grammar, spelling and punctuation also will be considered in grading.

Adequate but weaker response to topics. Generally states thesis with little development. Basic comprehension of readings, with lapses in understanding, and lacking support for viewpoints.
Does not have clear ideas or does not respond appropriately to the assignment. Thesis too vague to be developed effectively. Lacks comprehension of readings and does not support viewpoints.
Does not respond to the assignment, lacks a thesis or central idea, and neglects to show comprehension of readings.
Length/Format (50 points)
Follows all format guidelines in a very efficient manner. Length 5 or more pages.
Follows most format guidelines. Length 4 or more pages.
Follows only some of the format guidelines. Length 3 or more pages.
Follows only a few of the format guidelines. Length 2 or more pages.
Does not follow format guidelines; requirements are not met. Length less than 2 pages.
Mechanics (50 points)
Very Well-organized. Almost entirely free of spelling, punctuation, grammatical errors.
Sufficiently organized. May contain few errors that do not affect communication.
Mostly random organization. Average number of mechanical errors that do not impede communication.
Insufficient organization. Several mechanical errors that decrease communication.
Lacks organization completely. Mechanical errors block communication.
Support (50 points)
Cites the text sufficiently and appropriately, and cites one or more peer-reviewed journal articles.
Cites the text appropriately and cites one peer-reviewed journal article correctly.
Average amount of citations from text; cites peer-reviewed article but possibly not cited correctly or irrelevant.
Utilizes minimal number of citations from the text or does not cite a peer-reviewed journal article; may not be cited correctly.
Does not cite the text or does not cite a peer-reviewed journal article. Improper use of citations.
