Discuss the problems encountered while conducting your research, how they may have influenced your results, and how they affect your conclusions (in terms of both reliability and validity).

DISCUSSION DRAFT GUIDELINES
DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT
The last draft writing assignment for Applied II is to write a draft of the Discussion of your final paper. As always, this section should conform to APA format. The discussion should include the following:
Brief overview of the study’s purpose.
Statement of your hypothesis(es).
Brief review of Method (2-4 sentences).
Statement of the results and their interpretation. Clearly state whether or not the results supported each of your hypotheses. Then explain why the results did or did not support these hypotheses. Do not repeat actual numbers or statistical tests unless they are critical to a point you are making. When explaining your results, you should refer to the previous research you discussed in your Introduction and/or additional research not previously mentioned, especially if you obtained results inconsistent with your hypothesis(es).
Implications of Results. You should try to integrate your results with the previous research and explain how your results expand upon and add to this previous work. In the discussion, you are allowed to speculate on your findings. However, be careful not to speculate too much. That is, your interpretations must be based on your data, data from previous research, or established theory.
Methodological Limitations of your Study. Discuss the problems encountered while conducting your research, how they may have influenced your results, and how they affect your conclusions (in terms of both reliability and validity). Although you should point out the major limitations in your study, you do not have to dwell on every problem (that is, do not completely negate your study).
Suggestions for Future Research. Discuss what questions your results raise and how those questions might be examined in future research.
Summary statement or conclusion. End strong
