Write a research essay to demonstrate the knowledge of basic concepts, debates and the current state of research on digital media and
publics. The structure of the research essay should contain:

1. A short introduction including a research question or thesis statement
2. A main part including:
a. Methods, only if you work empirically
b. Theory, especially if you work conceptually
c. Your main evidence and arguments
d. Conclusion summing up your essay and making a final statement

The form can be either a classical course paper or an essay with pictures and links, which still
has to reference academic literature. You may write classical academic style or more like a social media analyst. If you use empirical methods (e.g. hashtag networks etc.), you have to explain
them first. If you use the knowledge that is not yours, then you have to reference your source. Be precise in your language. Include the statement of authorship
