While it has already been stated on the official essay prompt, to reiterate, papers must meet ALL of the following requirements in order for the paper to be eligible for points. 1. Length
a. essay MUST be a minimum of 4 COMPLETE pages in length, excluding the Works Cited page (i.e. “complete” = the 4th page needs to be completely full).

a. it should be present and all citations should be done correctly, according to your textbooks and the materials posted for you under “Lecture Notes” regarding the creation of these pages
3. Sources:

i. 2 college-level books (i.e. this shouldn’t be an encyclopedia; rather, it should be a book written by an expert on the topic; note that books accessed via the databases EBSCO Discovery Service [i.e. OneSearch], ABC-CLIO ebooks, ACLS Humanities, eBook Collection can be used)
ii. 1-2 newspaper/magazine articles* ~ (the majority of which can be accessed through databases such as ProQuest, OneSearch, or EBSCOhost)
iii. 3 scholarly journal articles* ~ (an article found through the database CQResearcher does not count as one of these. These can be found in ProQuest, EBSCO Discovery Service [i.e. OneSearch], EBSCOhost; for more information on how to locate these, please see the lecture notes under “4.10 Locating Library Sources”).
iv. 1 Reliable/credible Internet/Web sources maximum (this excludes sites such as YouTube, Wikipedia, about.com, answers.com, blogs, and other such unregulated sites, etc.)
c. **Please note that anything located via CBC’s library databases is NOT classified as an Internet source.
d. ~Please remember that no articles from CQResearcher may be used as sources for this essay.
e. No sources from CQResearcher are allowed
f. Don’t use trash websites like blogs, Wikipedia, about.com, how.com, answers.com, YouTube and other sites of this nature. Websites should be scholarly, professional, and well researched works. For example: Centers for Disease Control & Prevention; ACLU; The New Yorker; Frontline; OPUS
4. Should contain ALL of the following:
a. Audience paragraph
b. Argumentative thesis statement as outlined in the first week’s lecture notes
c. Introduction that contains thesis statement
d. Body paragraphs

f. Conclusion
5. Should be written in third person
6. Should contain mix of direct & indirect quotations, properly cited
7. No graphics
8. No more than 1 block quotation
