Drawing on what you have
learned from this course, write a six to eight (6-8) page paper that you will
deliver at a symposium for expatriates who are about to depart for work in
other parts of the world. Choose one country from North America, South America,
East Africa, South East Asia, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, and Australia and
prepare the new expatriates about what they can expect when dealing with
leaders from that country. Conduct research on this issue and address the
following factors:
1.
Create a profile of a typical leader from his/her assigned part of the world,
in terms of his or her style of decision-making, delegation, treatment of
subordinates, goal-setting strategies, risk propensity, and communication.
2.
Include a discussion on diversity, where the idea of minority has new
contextual meaning. (Be sure to consider the reversal of normative ideas about
majority and minority. For example, what difficulties may arise from a
situation where a U.S. manager is a member of a minority in the new global
business environment?) Briefly offer suggestions for repatriation for the
expatriates.
3.
Discuss the impact of international regulations or legal/ethical issues.
4.
Discuss how to address nonverbal and cultural barriers to communication.
5.
Provided evidence to support claims in a clear and fair representation.
6. The quality of the sources
of information you use, as well as your referencing skills, will be assessed. The
written assignment should be 6-8 pages in length with 5 current references
