For Client Statements 1-5, you will first name the value related to the scenario. In additional you must how specifically this value applies (worth 1 point each). You then should write a response that you would use to the client that reflects that value (worth 1 point each). Your statement and the client response are worth 1 point each. Remember you are acting in the role of a professional social worker therefore your statement should be professional in nature. There are modeled social work responses following the assignment to each scenario that you can refer to; however, please create an original response of your own. For the second part of the homework review each of the ethical dilemmas below. Identify the dilemma stating both the code and the subsection (this should not be a direct quote) (worth 2 points), the action the social worker should take (2 points). What resources could one consult to decide a ethical course of action (1 point). Your response should fully explain in detail of the three expectations above, failure to do so will result in a deduction of points.
Ethical Dilemma #1: “A murder was reported tonight on the evening news. You recognize the victim as a woman who had numerous brief stays at the domestic violence agency where you work. You suspect that her boyfriend was the perpetrator and wonder if you should contact the police with this information.”
Ethical Dilemma #2: “You have seen a husband and wife and their 15-year-old daughter twice regarding relationship problems between the parents and their daughter. The parents are both angry and fed up with their daughter, stating that they never had such problems with other children and that the just needs to “shape up”. Today you received a text from the girl that she is pregnant and knows her parents “will explode” if they find out, and she needs to see you without her parents present to talk about her plans.”
