Introduction & scope of the task:
In 2019, a novel communicable disease which was known as the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first detected in Wuhan Province in China but quickly spread all over the world. Though scientists are still trying to unravel the full ramification of this disease which became a pandemic that left the world in serious turmoil.

16months after the COVID-19 disease was first detected in China, more than a 100million people have been infected worldwide and the death toll has now reached a new grim milestone of over 3million persons globally as of April 2021. Several billions of persons worldwide are under crippling lockdowns and this has also devastated the world economy.
While a cure is still being sought for by researchers and scientists, a few vaccines have been developed by some major pharmaceutical firms which aim at providing some immunity against this scourge of a disease that has brought the world to its knees. Since the roll out of these vaccines around the world the media has played a very significant role in the mobilization of the world population in the acceptance of these vaccines in many countries of the world. In the main, a large proportion of the world population has eagerly received the development of this vaccine and has anticipated its rollout across a world in convulsion. However, there have also been some reported cases of countries where conspiracy theories have been spread through the instrumentality of the media aimed at discouraging people from accepting the vaccine for various reasons including unsubstantiated claims that the vaccines are unsafe and will lead to more evil than good. This paper will therefore seek to investigate the role of the media in curbing COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in Nigeria and Ghana comparatively.
It is important to note that the use of media in this paper will be limited to the print, broadcast, and social media operational and accessible in Nigeria and Ghana.
The major objective of this paper is to determine whether and how the media influenced the acceptance or hesitancy of the COVID-19 vaccination in Nigeria and Ghana. This paper will carry out a comparative analysis of the level of acceptance or non-acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccination in Nigeria and Ghana.
The method for data collection will be the triangulation method. This will involve the administration of surveys and in-depth interviews will be conducted on participants. On the other hand, the paper will be framed using the Agenda Setting Theory of the media and the Persuasion Theory.
It would be impossible to study the entire Nigeria and Ghana hence the study will be limited to some parts of Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana. This study will look at the media role in curbing COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana.
