One of the most meaningful aspects of doing history is that it can help us to better understand the world we live in today. Thus, history is immensely empowering. In order to demonstrate that you can connect the past to the present, you must find three media stories (all stories unfolding at the time you take this class) and connect each one to a topic covered in each section of the course. For instance, you may find a story on modern day gender inequality that relates to the ancient world or even a contemporary example of sport and politics that compares to the Cold War. Your news curation analysis must be at least 1-2 pages in length. Taken together, these 3 reflective media analyses total 20% of your final grade. You can submit your papers via the Turn-it-in link on CANVAS through the CSUF home page.***If your story does not unfold during the time you’ve taken this class (August 21, 2021 – December 10, 2021), your News Curation assignment will receive a ZERO grade. The goal of the News Curation is to get you to link course material and recent events or developments that you find via online news sites, printed news sources, or broadcast media. To receive full credit for the news article, your commentaries must be 300-600 words long, include the date of the news article and a working link to the news source. It should also have:- A summary of the article-How/why does this article relate to the level? What concepts did it relate to?
Remember the goal for this assignment is to show analysis for materials covered only in this unit (not any other unit). YOU MUST FIND A STORY PUBLISHED DURING THE TIME PERIOD COVERED BY THIS CLASS: August 21- December 10, 2021.
Struggling to find content? Check out online sites for news companies such as ESPN, Yahoo sports, New York Times, USA Today, etc. Or, use Google News to find a relevant article: https://news.google.com/topstories?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en (Links to an external site.)

Typical commentaries are 300-600 words long. They should use one direct reference from the article and one direct reference from course material. References should be cited and direct quotations are preferred. Curations must correctly discuss at least one historical theme (three is ideal) from the course and should be in bold. When you’re writing the commentary for your post, you need to answer these questions.
– The title and date of the news article and a link to the news article
– A summary of the article
-How/why does this article relate to the course? What made it seem relevant to you? (This is a great place to connect to course themes)
