Prepare a 400 word report
that responds in three paragraphs which
respond to the following questions(i.e., one paragraph for each set of
questions):
i.
What is the mystery? What
is its significance? In other words, why does it matter that we try and
understand this mystery?
ii.
What are some of the responses
to the mystery, or the main question involved, that people have given (whether
theories from the time of the event(s) or in more recent times)? Is there a
response that you find to be most convincing? Don’t feel that you need to come
up with the definitive answer to this mystery but I do want to see that you are
able to come up with a reasonable response to it.
iii.
What sources did you find
most helpful in understanding what actually happened? Describe these: are they
Primary documents? (first hand participants or observers) Secondary documents?
Who produced them? What particular perspective might the producer of the
document bring to the question?
