5-3 Final Project Data Analysis Milestone Three: Process and Calculations

Milestone three is also due at the end of the week. You will create a table in which you propose the calculations and graphs you will need to perform to answer the health question you are investigating.
·What tests will you need to run? * answer: everyone will be doing a two-sample/independent t-test. The formula is on page 277 in your book. Your categorical variable is your independent variable (gender or fstat) and your continuous variable is your dependent variable (length of stay, age, or BMI).
·If you are hypothesis testing, what are your null and alternative hypotheses? * we know that the Null hypothesis is that there is no difference between your categorical variables (men/women or dead/alive) and the outcome variable (LOS, age, BMI). The alternative hypothesis should a two-sided hypothesis. Which one is that?
· Are there any tests that you want to use that you have not learned about yet? What are they? What is your plan for researching these tests?
The graphs you choose should help you see the distribution of the data BY the categorical variable. Possibilities are side-by-side box plots or dot plots, histograms, and for LOS/gender only: grouped bar chart.
Again, this assignment is 1-2 paragraphs in length.
