1. You were introduced to four approaches to mediation in Chapter 7, p. 238-241. The author suggested that ” learning each model on its own [enables] you to practice the skills and strategies of each approach separately (p.241). He also contended that ” practicing one model at a time can be enough of a challenge… and at some point, you might decide to blend approaches” ( p.241). However, if you were a practicing mediator, which of the four approaches would you gravitate to or use predominately in your practice. Explain in 1-2 paragraphs : (1) Why you selected this approach? (2) What are the limitations of using this approach for you and for the client?

2. Now that you understand the importance of “impartiality” in mediation from the readings, how would you deal with the following scenario in
Impartiality Dilemma
(chapter 7, p. 277; question #5).

3. Now that you are informed about mediation process and approaches , address the following questions. The following questions in your textbook deal with global, diversity, and cultural scenarios. Analyze each scenario and thoroughly answer the questions in your textbook. Be sure to integrate your knowledge from the chapter readings in your analysis – especially from the section on “cultural issues” (chapter 7,p. 272-276).

Power of Gender (chapter 8, p. 377; question #5).
Be sure to read chapter 8 and integrate knowledge.
