Finding Enlightenment in the Declaration of Independence

In Chapter 2 of We the People the authors discuss a number of key political philosophers that furthered the ideas generally associated with a democracy. The works of these philosophers influenced many of the founders of the United States and shaped their opposition to British rule and ultimately the formation of the Government of the United States. For now I want you to focus on democratic political philosophy as the foundations for the rights of the colonies to break free from Britain. After reading the Declaration of Independence I want you to note at least three places where you see the ideas of the political philosophers covered in the reading. Be sure to note which philosopher is related to the statement in the Declaration and show how you think impacts the meaning of the Declaration
