DISCUSSION GEOMETRY
Now that you have had a
chance to glance through the Disability History Timeline from the link above and
read about some of the different events important in the history of people with
disabilities, it is time to do some processing. How does the information impact
us and how do we react to it? Discussion Geometry provides a simple way to do
this and helps us organize our ideas and responses to the Disability History
Timeline.
Directions: Select three (3) events
you found interesting and use those three (3) events in consideration to
complete this assignment. (You may wish
to conduct some brief additional research on each of your events to help
strengthen your historical perspective.)
a) CIRCLE (1st
question):
What is one idea or event that is going around and around in your head after
reading or discussing the timeline?
Please be sure to make specific reference to 2-3 events listed on the
timeline.
b) SQUARE (2nd
question):
What is one idea or event that squares (or is similar) to what you already
knew?
c) TRIANGLE (3rd
question):
What are three things that you are going to take away from this activity?
d) HEXAGON (Ending reflection): Write a 150-200
word reflection, exploring which idea or event on the timeline made you feel
uncomfortable or awkward, and why? Discuss how this understanding intersects with the course materials you have
encountered so far.
