Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Minister’s Black Veil” and “Rappacini’s Daughter.”

-Essay requirements:
1. Once you establish which two texts of the individual you want to explore, you then need to trace a recurring or prevalent theme/s in his/her work and analyze this theme/s. For example, you may examine the recurring theme of obsession in Hawthorne’s “The Minister’s Black Veil” and “Rappacini’s Daughter.”
2. Utilize the “assertion, proof #1, proof #2 analysis method.” The “proof” consists of two parts—the proof from the text (quotations, passages from text itself) and outside proof (evidence from a literary critic). In other words, for the outside proof in this case (Rappacini’s Daughter), discuss what critics say about this author’s work. For instance, what comments do literary critics make on Hawthorne’s exploration of obsession and the effects it has on his characters?

Be sure to cover both works by your author (i.e. the one read in class and the outside piece) in your essay’s body. Also, be sure to include a conclusion paragraph as usual.
