Final Course Project: As part of this course students are required to complete a mock research proposal (very similar to the first three chapters of a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation, or the proposal submitted to a funding agency or the institutional review board (IRB) for research approval). It is a mock research proposal because: 1) You WILL NOT actually be required to conduct this research and collect data but will instead prepare a research proposal as if you were intending to conduct such research, and 2) the requirements will not be as exhaustive as an actual research proposal (MEANING THE PAGE REQUIREMENTS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY LESS). The research proposal is divided into the following three sections: 1) Introduction to the research topic, 2) The literature review related to past studies on your selected topic, and 3) Methodology overview relating to how you would collect and analyze data if you were actually completing the research project (Note: In the past I have had students actually collect data; please understand that you are not required to do so but are instead expected to prepare the materials as if you were actually going to collect and analyze data).
