Mr Marks, a 68 year-old male, was admitted to the Emergency Department at 6am after waking up with right-sided weakness, right facial droop and slurred speech. His family informed you that the patient has a history of hypertension that had been diagnosed two years ago. On admission to the Emergency Department the clinical manifestations were:

-Severe right-sided weakness
-right-sided facial droop
-Incomprehensible words
-Glasgow come score (GCS) 11/15 (Eyes 3/4 —-Voice 2/5 Motor 6/6)
-Right hemianopia

A diagnosis of Left MCA ischaemic stroke is made.
