Laboratory – Igneous Rocks

Overview:
The Labsheet has been attached to this order as a PDF file labed as –
3 Igneous Rocks Special PDF.
Please fill in the lab sheet with the correct answers.
The rock cycle is introduced in laboratory in this assignment.
It is important to note the two necessary processes for igneous and
sedimentary rocks and the three (not two!) factors that create
metamorphic rocks.

All of the rocks on Earth at one time were igneous rocks.
Igneous rocks currently make up the majority of the rocks on Earth’s
surface. All true seafloor is almost entirely one type of igneous rock
called basalt.

In this lab, the emphasis is on the two factors used to name igneous
rocks: texture and mineral composition.
I have attached the Bowen”s reactions series PDF to this order, to help you identify the mineral composition of igneous rocks and includes all of the groups of silicates previously introduced. The igneous rock texture is completely different and is the second factor used to name igneous rocks.

Guidelines:
This lab must be downloaded and printed to complete.
Fill in pages 3-5 of the lab on paper and then scan all three (3)
pages as a single PDF file then upload it to this order.
