Choose
a published quantitative or mixed methods study to explore in terms of
its research design. This study could come from the literature that
makes up the literature review portion of your dissertation plan, but it
must be directly related to your research interests.
Examine the study in terms of the research design considerations we’ve discussed so far, including:
experimental design
variables
sampling techniques
levels of measurement
validity and reliability
ethics and the IRB
researcher and participant bias
Reflections should be at least 500 words in length and conform to APA
formatting guidelines. Attach a copy of the study you’re discussing, in
addition to including a complete reference in your reflection. Submit
your reflection on research design considerations by Monday (9/6).

Week 2 Overview and Learning Objectives
This
week will explore the various considerations that need to be put into
any decisions made about the type, size, and handling of a sample. Ideas
on how to avoid or control for researcher and participant bias will be
explored. Ethical considerations and the Institutional Review Board
(IRB) process will be discussed.
Weekly Learning Objectives:
Appraise common sampling techniques.
Differentiate between proper and improper practices in sample collection.
Assess a published study in terms of its basic research design.
Topics: sampling techniques, ethics in research, researcher and participant bias
