Question 1: The Civil War is credited by many as the first war to be photographed. These images from the battlefield made the war more tangible for the nation and impacted public opinion greatly. In your post I’d like you to compare and contrast images from the Civil War with images you’ve seen of recent war conflicts. Is there a difference in how war is photographed today?
Question 2: Alfred Stieglitz, The Photo-Seccession, and the Pictorialist Movement, to name a few. In your post I’d like you to discuss your opinion regarding why this was necessary. Why was photography having such a hard time being taken seriously as an art form?
