Immigration, particularly illegal immigration, is a current political issue.
It was also an issue in early 19th century Mexico notably with the passage of the Law of April 06, 1830 restricting American settlement in Texas.
What, if any, similarities does the current situation have with the early Mexican Republic and the Anglo-American settlers of Texas?
In other words, were the defenders of the Alamo patriots or illegal aliens? or both?
