Instructions:
Read each case study and
review the 23 program competencies and determine which case you will use for
each competency. You do not have to use all 4 of the case studies if you choose
not to. The case studies can be used as you think best addresses each
competency.
Each Competency Essay
should be at least 300 words and include a separate sheet listing refrences
used; this is not part of the word count.
Each essay must contain
at least 2 references (one reference should be the case study being used plus
at least one additional reference). All references utilized in your responses
are required to be in APA format (references and in-text citations).
An appendix may be
utilized to explain data; this is not part of the word count.
Include a APA-format
title page, listing the Number and Name of the Competency being addressed; this
is not part of the word count.
Write 300 word essay for each competency below 1.1 – 1.5
Knowledge of the
Healthcare System and Healthcare Management Domain
1.1. Financial
Management: Understand financial
analysis, reimbursement payment techniques and strategies, and financial
outcome measures. Application of financial analysis and planning to achieve
organizational objectives.
1.2. Managing
Financial Risk: Able to evaluate and manage
financial risk under various payment methodologies including value-based
payment systems; risk based and non-risk-based payment methodologies, and
episode and population-based payment models.
1.3. Human Resource
Management: Understand the rights and
protection of employees, effective workforce planning, and performance
management.
1.4. Quality
Management: Apply quantitative methods and
metrics to continually improve the quality of care provided, patient safety,
organizational performance, and the financial health of the organization.
1.5. Healthcare
Delivery System: Understand
the health care system and the environment in which health care managers and
providers function.
