Cultural Self-Analysis Paper Criteria
*Double-spaced, 4-6 pages, headings optional, 20 points
Discuss how the following parts of your identity have impacted and shaped 1) your life experiences, 2) your values, 3) your relationships, and 4) your view of the world and others:
Race/Ethnicity
Gender Identity – Male/female/nonbinary/gender diverse/cisgender/transgender
Sexual Identity/Orientation Discussing affectual orientation is optional and recommended
Socioeconomic Status, Class, Education, and Access to Resources
Religion/Spirituality Practices
Body size
Ability Status
Age Consideration – Current age or phase of life (young/middle/older adult)
Intersectionality – How your identities interact, influence, and impact one another. Note any examples of oppression youve experienced as a result of your intersecting identities.
Paper Structure – Did the paper follow the guidelines? Turned in on time? 4-6 pages in length? Grammar and spelling?
Students can choose to include expressive arts component/pictures or something that represents who they are as cultural beings. If using expressive arts, students need to submit a 2 page paper or video recording explaining the artwork and its significance. Students will turn in the paper via Canvas before or on June 23, 2021 by 11.59pm.
*Per syllabus grading policy: Students are expected to turn in written assignments no later than the day they are due (or the due date and time posted on course schedule). Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the instructor PRIOR to the due date of the assignment. No extensions will be granted the day an assignment is due or after the due date. Late assignments will be penalized 5% for each day they are late. Assignments turned in more than 1 week past the due date will not be accepted for credit.
