Prejudice and Discrimination Chapter 1 and 2

The concept of Microaggression has had considerable application on college campuses and general American society. Proponents have argued that it is very important for everyone to be mindful of both their verbal and nonverbal communication because insensitive behavior can be very harmful to others. Opponents of the concept have argued that it is actually helpful for college students to be exposed to microaggressions and that hate speech is even protected by the constitution. Please view the following three videos that I have provided:
How unintensional but insidious bias can be most harmful,
Microaggressions in everyday life,
Trigger warnings and Microaggressions on college campuses,
as well as the reading assignment entitled: Racial, Gender, and Sexual Orientation Microaggressions from the book chapter written by Sue and Capodilupo (2016).
Why would it be important for everyone to be mindful of the potential impact of their Microaggressive on others? Have we as a society carried the regulation of both verbal and nonverbal behaviors of others too far on college campuses and everyday life? While responding to both questions, I encourage you to be as objective as possible.
