Assignment
For this assignment you will create an annotated bibliography as part of your research plan.

1. Topic and Purpose (Prospectus) – Write a statement about the topic you have chosen for your research paper. The topic must be an analysis of how Beowulf or Marie de France’s The Lay of Sir Launfal read in this course explores and comments on an issue. Additionally, discuss the purpose of your topic. Explain why the topic is of interest to you and include what real difference it would make to you and to your readers to find out more about your topic. Finally, include where the research will be obtained for your topic.

2. Working Thesis – The thesis will be a clear statement claiming that your chosen literature explores a particular issue and how the claim you make will be developed.

3. Annotated Working Bibliography – For your working bibliography, create complete citations in MLA 8/9 format for five (5) secondary sources (produced by scholars that discuss the literature and support one or more claims of the argument) from a variety of credible/appropriate publications. The sources must include at least one published source, one internet source, and one library/database source. Include a complete summary of the information that will be provided by each source. Also identify the value the source has for your particular research topic, or how this source helps you develop a part of the overall claim made in the argument. Do not include the literature as a source on the annotated bibliography. Sources should not be wikis, study guides, essay writing services, Shmoop, Good Reads, e-notes, blogs, reference sources such as encyclopedias, or the like. You also may not use translations or summaries of the
