Compare and contrast the scientific selection process with the modern technique of selecting staff based on personality.

Current research (see readings) indicates that for guest interaction positions, many venues are choosing to recruit not on hard skills – but on soft skills (team work, problem solving, self-management etc.). However, many venues confuse “attitude and personality” which could be termed as traits, as representing “soft skills”. But is this correct? Does selecting on “personality” bring into question the validity and reliability of the selection process? Can we adequately measure “personality?”

Consider also the EEO/anti-discrimination legal requirements not to base employment decisions on characteristics (traits) that a person may be born with.
Include references to academic papers together with any legal and ethical requirements concerning employment.
Your paper should include an introduction, discussion and a conclusion. You should include what is known in relation to recruitment and selection with regard to: techniques, constraints, legal and ethical issues, alternative structures and definitions of terms such as validity, reliability, personality, and attitude among other terms.

Refer to the grading rubric attached for further guidance.
