Interpersonal Communication Subject Matter – no resources need, just corrected formating
We will need a cover page outline, which is not included as one of the four pages, the four pages should be full text.
ASSIGNMENT: Take one day out of your life and experience with it like not to talk, from the time you awake until the
time you fall asleep. If you need to communicate, it is easiest to bring a notepad and a pen wherever you go. You
may use the day as you feel most appropriate, but I would encourage you to tune in to your “self’ – your inner
conversation and observe how your self functions in the world and how others view yourself.
Did you notice how your silence influenced communication by others or communication situations? What types of
things did you think about during the day? Did you notice any significant topics that kept popping up in the self conversation in your mind? Was there a point at which you moved beyond thought and were thinking about nothing?
How did you feel as you progressed throughout the day? Did you notice your feelings change at different periods of
time? Where you more aware of how your body felt? Did you become aware of new thoughts or feelings? What did
you learn from this assignment? Will you do this again – why or why not? Is there anything you will take from this
experience and apply it to your daily life?
INTRODUCTION: The introduction should include the day on which you chose to be silent and why, as well as any
specific preparations you made before you started your day. This section should be brief – about 1/2 page.
BODY: Consider the three most important aspects on which you would like to reflect, explore and write. Any of the
above topics – or ones that are important to you that are not listed – may be explored. Make sure this part of your
paper is thoughtful, detailed, and meets the requirements of the assignment stated above. Give a title to each of the
three separate sections and type each title in bold type. This section should comprise the majority of the four pages.
CONCLUSION: What did you learn about yourself from this assignment? Will you do this again? What will you take
from this assignment and apply in your daily life, if anything? End your paper with a memorable thought or a significant
quote – something creative and memorable. This section should be brief – about 1/2 page.
