Critical Book Analysis. The purpose of this assignment to provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your comprehension of the course material via specific application of concepts to “So, You Want to Talk About Race.” Application is defined as using course material to interpret, organize, assess, and/or put in meaningful context, the narrative presented in ”So, You Want to Talk About Race”. A main focus of this class has been expanding your understanding of the context of power, privilege, and marginalization and expose the impact of social structures on individuals and communities. The book analysis should cover the following areas:1. Summarize the book briefly. You should briefly (1-3 paragraphs) summarize the main points of the book. Again, this is not a literary book review, therefore be mindful of your summary.2. Apply 2-3 key concepts from the course to the book. What major concepts related to power, privilege, and oppression are evident in the book? Explain each concept and ground the concept using the textbook as support. You should cite your references from the textbook.3. Analyze the events, perspectives, and outcomes discussed in the book. How do they align or differ from the concepts discussed in the course?4. Apply the main points of the book to the social work profession and the code of ethics. How can you use the events, perspectives, and outcomes discussed in the book in social work practice? How do they relate to the NASW Code of Ethics?This is not a literary book review. While I am interested in your opinion of the book, the point of the assignment is to give you an opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of course content. You do not need to provide a reference for the book but cite within the paper using the author’s last name and the page number.
