Students will conduct a windshield survey New Haven and Hamden, Connecticut
A windshield survey is a composite of subjective and objective data (visual pictures of the area) which define a community. Using this data, student will be able to identify trends and stability of their community. while recognizing how it affects the health of the population and community. The windshield survey can be conducted via an automobile, public transportation, or by a student walking through the community.
Once the windshield survey is completed, students will develop a 10 12 slide presentation elements from their community assessment with audiorecording to describe the contents and specifics in each slide The presentations imust be submitted to Blackboard., 5 points will be deducted for every day the power point is late. If doing with a group you may need to do at least 15-18 slides.

The status of communities Infrastructure needs roads, sidewalks, bridges, streetlights, etc.
The presence or absence of functioning businesses and industrial facilities – what do the manufacture, produce, or contribute to the community.

Recreation centers, parks, schools
Health care facilities/offices
Restaurants
The location, condition, and use of public spaces
The amount of activity on the streets at various times of the day, week, or year
The noise level in various parts of the community
The amount and movement of traffic at various times of day be it pedestrian or vehicular.
The location, accessibility, and condition of public buildings the city or town hall, courthouse, etc.
Lastly, relate how your selected Healthy People 2030 topic and data correlate to the area.
