Please, these projects need to be followed step by step to
avoid mistakes.
Project #2 Research Critical Appraisal
Part 1: PICO questions
You will choose a topic related to nursing practice and
develop your PICO
question based on that topic you have chosen. Your group PICO
question will be submitted on Module 4.
You will
individually conduct a virtual library search for 12 studies related to your
group PICO question. You will then select five (5) studies from
the search results.

You, will then decide which one
of the five studies will be used for your Critical Appraisal Presentation (NOTE:
The study chosen for your presentation must be a Quantitative
research study design). Criteria for approval (and therefore should be
screened as part of your search strategy) are all of the following:
published with the last 5
years
relevant to nursing (i.e.,
have nursing implications)
uses quantitative methodology
(data analysis uses statistical tests), not qualitative
methodology (data analysis uses words)
uses one, or a
combination, of the following statistical tests to analyze data:
Pearson correlation,
Spearman rho correlation
Simple Linear regression,
Multiple Linear Regression (not Logistic Regression)
T-test, Mann-Whitney U
test, chi square (χ2), Wilcoxon
ANOVA (ANalysis
Of VAriance) (not Multiple Analysis of
Variance (MANOVA) or Analysis of Co-Variance (ANCOVA)
4. You will SUBMIT this research
study to my email
You will be notified as to the approval
or disapproval of the research study for your Critical Appraisal Presentation.
If approved, then
set aside as you are now ready when it is time to begin working on the
presentation.
If not approved,
then you will continue to submit research studies one-by-one from the
studies gathered previously until a study is approved for your
presentation.
You will select another study from the previously selected
(that also Quantitative methodology) for your Poster Project
You will use the studies selected for both the Poster Project
and the Appraisal Presentation PLUS 3 additional studies
for a total of 5 studies for your Evidence Table that is also
part of the Critical Appraisal Project.
(NOTE: The study chosen for your Poster Project along with the
other 3 studies that will go into your Evidence Table do not
need to be approved.)
Then, this work will continue creating other future presentations.
Further instructions will be received to create Project
#1: Evidence-Based Research Poster, which will use 1 of the 5 selected
research studies. Details will be provided when ready.
As you can perceive, it is also essential to keep the selected
research studies for future Evidence Table that will be part of the Critical
Appraisal Project as well. Details will be provided when ready.
