(Discussion one)
Few (if any) of us relish the possibility of addressing a pending conflict. In a reading called Don’t Avoid Conflict — Manage Them, claims that avoiding conflict usually means these unmet needs will get in the way of what needs to be done and direct energy away from tasks. (Please relate to the concept- If you’re in a negotiation, don’t think your main task is to assert your needs. Your first job is to understand the other party. ) Relate that tip to an actual workplace experience and tell your classmates how a conflict was effectively addressed.
