What are the ethical responsibilities of a film maker when discussing a minority population such as this one?

In the course of your response I would like you to address:
Describe Navajo culture and history (i.e. explain their world view as shown in the film)
Explain what else you learned from the film, what
your reactions were to it, how it made you feel, etc. What did you learn about the importance of culture, family, and music in Native American society?
In addition, please choose at least 1 of the following ideas to discuss. You do not have to cover all of them if you do not want to but you must cover at least one of these prompts:

– What would be difficult about John Wayne’s return to his family and culture? What would he have lost? How would you feel in his situation? What would you be without your culture?
-What are the ethical responsibilities of a film maker when discussing a minority population such as this one? Do you feel the film treated the population fairly and respectfully? Why or why not? Do you think a film like this could impact the tribe? If so, is it a positive or negative impact?
-Discuss the impact of tourists and Hollywood on the Navajo way of life. Ideas to get you started: What are the pros and cons to tourism? Has this helped preserve Navajo culture? Has Hollywood produced an accurate representation of Navajo culture? Was the tribe fairly dealt with while filming was occurring?
-Discuss the government’s treatment of the Navajos, in particular those featured in the film. Ideas to get you started: How do you feel about the uranium mining and the impact it has had on their land? How would you feel if something like this happened to your family? Is it ok for the government to mine the Navajo’s sacred land in the interest of national security?
