Explain how the lack of governmental regulation of factory farm waste disposal is leading to massive environmental damage and public health problems.

Topic proposals fulfill one of the most important steps in the writing process: to initiate dialogue. The proposal will give you and me the opportunity to exchange ideas and insights and to ask questions pertaining to your topic.
First thing is first: remember that this is an investigation, the purpose of which is to examine a specific problem related to a topic. Be sure to read the investigative essay guidelines carefully so that you have a clear understanding of this basic imperative of investigation. Be sure that you have carefully read Modules 5 and 6 and devoted a sufficient amount of time to thinking about and researching your potential topic.
When you have finally decided upon a topic, tell us the following (please number your responses and compose each response in a separate paragraph).
1. What is your topic and what specific problem will you be investigating? In answering this, tell us what you hope to uncover through your investigation.
2. Provide us with a couple of general facts that you will use to ground your investigation. What are some of the most compelling statistics, trends, or examples that seem to define the true nature of your central problem? For example, if I was going to do an investigation on how the federal government’s oversight of pork processing plants in the United States is hampered by chronic under-funding and under-staffing, which leads to rampant animal abuse, I might include the following, “[T]he U.S. Department of Agriculture [. . .] is so short-staffed that it typically only sends inspectors out to slaughterhouses, where they check a small sample of pigs, cows and sheep before they’re put to death. That hour before her end is usually the only time a pig sees a government rep; from the moment she’s born, she’s on her own, spending four or five years in a tiny crate and kept perpetually pregnant and made sick from breathing in her own waste while fed food packed with growth-promoting drugs, and sometimes even garbage” (Solotaroff).
While your facts don’t necessarily have to be this involved, they should be insightful and specific enough to give us a clear sense of what sort of factual foundation you’ll be using to ground your investigation.
3. Why have you chosen this topic? What value does this topic have for the average reader?
Please compose three separate paragraphs and number them accordingly. Your word count should be about 300 words
