The primary group interactions will occur in our online discussion forums. Proactive, meaningful class participation is essential to maximizing course potential and to enable the Instructor to fully evaluate your comprehension of course content. Please know that I am much more interested in quality than quality. For each 250-500 word post, include at least two external citations (a website that you found especially helpful, an article, a YouTube video that relates to a topic we are discussing). My expectation is that you participate in each online discussion forum with a minimum of three posts, including your initial post and two responses to other in class posts. Your response to the other students must be a minimum of 4 compete sentences. You are, of course, welcome to write more and always expected to conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
A Tailored Message:
As health professionals, your communications should appeal to a target audience. Messages should be tailored to engage and motivate particular groups to make changes related to health behaviors. Particular attention should be devoted to the idea that health behaviors can spread through networks because one individual within a social network may have a high degree of influence on other individuals within his/her social network. Recognizing and understanding the social network theory and its components provides an opportunity to improve our understanding of how social networks can influence health behaviors and how to design interventions within different populations and promote health.
In your original post, select and describe a health behavior of a target audience from your own experience or a reading.
Explain the factors which motivate and hinder behavioral change within the audience. Then compose and tailor a message about a health and wellness behavior that will appeal to the target audience. Be sure to use references and cite your sources.
