This assignment involves reviewing a current research study on issues relating to social work. It is designed to integrate the knowledge and skills gain in the course to date and assist the student in identifying and developing the conceptual and methodological knowledge and skills required for human service research. The assignment permits the student to explore research issues with marginalized, disadvantaged, impoverished, Indigenous and multicultural groups. The assignment also permits the student to research topics or fields of study that are personal or career interests. The student will need to “read ahead” and inform him/herself on the research methods applicable to his/her project.
Select a topic area and complete a computer literature search using the key words of your topic area. Identify 3 or 4 research studies completed in the past 6 years that are published in a professional or academic journal. Select one study and photocopy it from the journal. Review the research identifying the strengths and limitations of the study.
