When working with a clinical practice group you may observe that some group
members of the practice group may face social inequalities which result in
their marginalization merely because of being identified with a certain
socio-cultural group. Social cultural groups include those which are based on
race/ethnicity, age, socio-economic status, religion and/or sexual
orientation). Students will select a specific socio-cultural group as the focus
of their paper. Provide a clear description of the following information for
the socio-cultural group you have selected: • Give a summary of the
socio-cultural group. Please keep in mind cultural humility and sensitivity. •
Address what challenges members of this socio-cultural group faces in terms of
11 (a) access to freedom (b) safety (c) privacy (d) adequate standard of living
(e) health care (f) education • Identify at least one theory of human need
and/or social justice related to this socio-cultural group • Identify how these
human needs might be addressed within the context of the clinical group.. •
Include a description of specific interventions or techniques that can be used
in the group to bring attention to the inequities faced by members of the
identified socio-cultural group and potential opportunities for them to engage
in experiencing therapeutic change.
