The Crucible has many underlying themes that drive the plot of the play and the dialogue of the characters. Using your knowledge of The Crucible, select one of the themes and analyze/explain its meaning and how it is developed within the play.
Planning
Use your Crucible “Quote Chart” and your knowledge of the drama to complete your Pre-Writing Worksheet.
Write or type a rough draft skipping lines for editing and revision.
Use the RATS process to edit and revise your paper.
Your pre-write materials will need to be turned in with your final draft!
Essay Requirements
In your introduction, include an enticing hook, background information regarding the play, transition sentences as needed, and a well-developed thesis.
In your body paragraphs, include
A topic sentence
2 fully developed SEE-sets
Embedded textual evidence
MLA formatted citations from the required source
And a conclusion/transition sentence
In your conclusion, restate your thesis and include a statement of impact. Leave the reader with a statement on the importance of your theme in the world today.
Final copies must be typed and submitted to Turnitin.com on Friday, September 17th. Papers not submitted to Turnitn.com will not be scored.
