As I mentioned in my “Announcement” of this week, this Response will focus on Burke’s “The Sublime and Beautiful” (186-191) and briefly touch on Blake’s poem, “The Tiger” (192-193).
Burke’s concept of the “Sublime and Beautiful” was incredibly influential for Romanticism (ca. 1800s). It is also a somewhat complex concept. And to aid you with understanding it, I’ve included a brief video about Burke’s concept:
