PEPSI Screening

Please read the “PEPSI” A Screening and Programming Tool for Understanding the Whole Child by J’Anne Ellsworth. This article will give you some background information on the PEPSI.
PEPSI is an acronym for Physical – Emotional – Philosophical – Social and Intellectual. These are all of the areas of development that we have covered in chapters 2 – 6 of our textbook. Developing a PEPSI screening (case study) on an individual allows for practical application of the contents learned in Principles of Educational Psychology.
You will choose an individual from the age 6 – 18 years of age to observe and develop a PEPSI screening. You will observe the individual in each developmental area and take notes. You will use your textbook or other resource materials to support your findings. You must cite at least three references for each of the developmental areas. There may be times that you cite the text more than once for different developmental areas. NOTE: You will need to use an outside source for support in the Physical development area; our text does not provide a lot of information in this area. However, our text will supply enough resources for the remaining areas. You may choose a family member to observe if you wish.
Follow the PEPSI rubric when formatting your paper. Be sure to have a cover sheet, biography of the individual being observed, information covering each developmental area with at least three in-text citations supporting your findings, a graph showing where your person rates developmentally(this can be a simple bar graph with your subject’s age as the baseline and PEPSI on the bottom with the bars showing below, at, or above the baseline for each developmental area) , recommendations for parents or teachers, and reference page. Your paper should be at least ten (10) pages in length including the cover page.
