2) Summary – A detailed description IN YOUR OWN WORDS of why the story is relevant, such as the purpose of the experiment, the importance of the discovery, or why it is interesting scientifically.
Example: Aricebo telescope is a radio telescope in Puerto Rico. It has been in operation for more than 50 years and has contributed to discoveries such as binary pulsars, studying the photoelectron stability of the upper atmosphere, and determining precise distance measurements to asteroids. There were worries that the facility might be shut down after a power outage and minor damage from hurricane Maria as well as reduced funding from the NSF.
Even though the telescope will continue to make historic observations, its future is uncertain as funding will reduce to less than 1/4 of its current budget over the next five years. Astronomers would like to see funding continue because Aricebo can still make unique observations that other newer radio telescopes cannot.
