This is for a Literature and Medicine Course:
The assignment we had to read: Thucydides on the Athenian Plague of 430 B.C. (very short reading link below)
(source 1) – – – http://www.historyguide.org/ancient/athenian_plague.html
Instruction: Read this and write a letter to the future (as Thucydides is writing for future readers) about our current Covid plague.
When writing keep these 3 lenses in mind:
Literary Glasses
Medical Glasses Source 2 — https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-long-term-effects/art-20490351
Personal Glasses
Points to help guide:
How can you explain to the future our distrust of science in this country and our rejection of the vaccine?
How does our view of science compare to other countries and problems of distributing vaccination?
Biopsychosocial analysis: epidemiology/biology etc that is not sufficient. This pandemic is relentless and affecting every level of society.

3 crucial terms to keep in mind: Diagnosis (the identification of the nature of an illness or other problems by examination of the symptoms), Prognosis (a forecast of the likely course of a disease or ailment), Etiology (the cause, set of causes, or manner of causation of a disease or condition)
NOTE: When writing about literature, use the present tense. Organize your discussion clearly. Selective quotes are fine; avoid plot recap. it’s ok to refer to ideas I’ve presented in class or that have been raised during the discussion: using the 3 lenses literature, medical, and personal (how does it affect you)
