MODULE 11 On we go into MODULE 11
1) View Power Point Presentation – Planning and Serving Nutritious Meals and Snacks
2) Read the article “Family and Family Style Dining”.
3) After reading the article submit a 3-2-1 Paper into the designated DROP BOX. Refer to the directions and example for a 3-2-1 paper in Module 1.
4) Complete and submit the NUTRITION QUIZ.
5) Begin working on your FINAL PROJECT: LESSON PLAN designed to engage young children and explore one aspect of Nutrition Education. Carefully read the Directions and review the Example for completing the Lesson Plan. You need to download the Lesson Plan template in this MODULE and fill in EACH category on the form
You DO NOT implement this plan. In fact you will not see a form like this anywhere else. The purpose of this assignment is to be sure you’re familiar with the Bright from the Start website and be able to see what is developmentally appropriate for each age group in the Domains!!
Go to GELDS (Georgia Early Learning and Developmental Standards) on the Bright from the Start website http://gelds.decal.ga.gov and use those to complete a developmentally appropriate activity. NOTE: In Select Age Group You need to UNCLICK ALL and CLICK 36-48 Months OR 48-60 Months. You can use the examples given on the website or create your own but it MUST conform to the standard and performance indicator you’ve chosen. You need to download and use the Lesson Plan template and fill in EACH category on the form. The Nutrition activities are in: the Domain: PDM: Physical Development and Motor Skills; Standard: PDM2 – The child will participate in activities related to nutrition. This should be a SMALL activity that keeps the focus on the Standard and Indicator and can be completed in ONE sitting. This is NOT a long term plan!! The purpose of this activity is to demonstrate your ability to locate GELDS and to use the information to create an age appropriate activity that keeps the focus on the Domain, Standard, and Age Appropriate Indicator.
For full credit you MUST include the CODE AND SENTENCE for DOMAIN, STANDARD BY STRAND, AND AGE APPROPRIATE INDICATOR and they MUST be identical to the information on the DECAL website.
