A research proposal about a specific topic or question on migration for any Asian country

– Choose a topic that interests you regarding the course’s central theme of migration and belonging.
– The topic should be significant (is it worth writing about and will others find it of interest?)
– Be sufficiently narrow (will it produce original ideas and can you unpack it deeply in this short paper?)
Articulate the state of knowledge:
Is there a consensus on how to address this topic or read this primary source? Is there controversy/disagreement? Is there conclusive evidence you are building on?
Name the other scholars you’ll be conversation with
Articulate a clear statement about what you want to write about. This is your working thesis (hypothesis).
Decide on a title that is concise, descriptive, and specific.
Cite the source in proper Chicago format. The citations should be organized in alphabetical order by author just as in a Chicago References page.
Follow with a brief annotation that summarizes the source (approx. 3 sentences). You may quote from the source, but do not copy and paste the abstract. Ideally, all of the annotation should be in your own words.
In 1 or 2 sentences, explain the source’s relevance and importance to your issue.
