Read the article “Profit and the Public Good” by The Economist (available on our Canvas course site, under the Course Readings tab).
The article is about the idea of “corporate social responsibility” (CSR) but it touches on several of the concepts we talked about in class on 8/26, when we discussed the economic efficiency of free markets.Write a 1-2 page essay relating the article to the concepts we discussed in class. Don’t just summarize the article or the class lecture. Think about how these concepts play out in the real world. Give examples. How does this coincide with, or differ from, your understanding of the behavior of firms, consumers, the government, and markets in general?
