Personal Advocacy Statement (20% of final grade)
Students will develop a statement of their personal values and knowledge, and professional beliefs and experience that may impact on their engagement in social policy advocacy. This personal statement will discuss the reasons for being involved (or not involved) in advocacy. Page limit is 2-4 double-spaced pages; 2-3 references APA style. The written assignment must include:
Identify a passion platform (a population group and an (only 1) issue they face on macro level) that resonates with you that you feel system and policy inequities exist.
An example of this issue is…
YOUR reasons for being involved (or not being involved) in advocacy,
Factors that influence YOU to use (or not to use) advocacy, and
How YOUR personal and/or professional experiences can be used to influence others to get involved (or to not get involved).
